About Hill Country Gardener
Hill Country Gardener and hillcountrygardener.com is a sole proprietorship that is owned and operated by Matthew McCabe. In 2004 I retired from a 20+ year Engineering and Executive Management career in the Telecommunications Industry. Following semi-retirement, I elected to follow my passion for beautiful yards, flower beds and flowers. I have been growing plants in the central Texas area for over 20 years; and have developed a keen passion and knowledge for flowers and plants that can help to enhance our gardens and yards. Also, I have learned much in the recent years about deer-resistant plants and products. As well as learning much about planting, growing and developing an organic environment in our yards and around our homes that will help to establish a healthy and cost effective eco-system to bring a balance of beneficial insects, animals, and soils for happy plants. I also have several years of studying painting, drawing and art that I believe affords me a unique view and appreciation of a mix of plants, textures and colors in our gardens.
